JETBOOM BOXERS

HISTORY

Both Rod and myself had both had various experiences with the boxer breed and other breeds in our lives long before we had even met each other. Over the years we have owned (either separately or together) Siberians, Alaskans, Akitas, German Shepherds and Pomeranians (Yes that was me not Rod!)

But having had parents and friends who owned boxers it was only a matter of time before we too fell prey to this endearing breed and wanted more than just the everyday pet.

So the hunt was on; I had grown up with a girlfriend who had owned a pair of beautiful red and white boxers and so to me boxers were (and still are!) always red and white. We contacted Brian and Sue McKie of Bokson and a negotiation was made for one of their red and white bitches. We were there as soon as Brian had finished work one day to look at her. I fell in love straight away, her name was 'Bokson Dee Zina Label' (Lady) and she was beautiful. Of course Brian showed us some other dogs and that was when Rodney saw Britt. A gorgeous flashy brindle by the name of 'Kirkgate Knock N Run'; she captured Rodney's heart and now the decision had to be made. She was also available to us but I was not giving up my red and white boxer for a brindle! So what do you do? Compromise and buy both of course! They were nearly the same age and had always been playmates so would be great company for each other. And looking back they were always together; to the extent that they shared each others litters and all slept together in the whelping box surrounded by puppies.

And so the 'JETBOOM' prefix was created. I have a big thing for names as you can see by the ones I choose (not only for my dogs but for my children also!) and I was not letting the Canine Association choose my prefix for me! After a long wait for the right one to pop into my head (and an even longer list!) I went with the name of a very famous Quarterhorse who was imported to Australia a long time ago. It was just a name that really stood out for us and since we also had the same style of horses that Jet Boom was synonymous for it just seemed to fit perfectly!

Whilst picking up our girls from Felix's Kennels after a holiday down south one year; a flash of red and white in the shape I knew so well caught my eye and my instant attention. There in his own run was a stunning specimen of the Boxerworld. I had to know who he was so Julie told us he owned a lady by the name of Jennifer Carroll and that he was indeed a stud dog. His name was 'Ozstock The I Tie', affectionately known as Nicholas and he was an awesome, powerful looking dog. Jenny herself was of course on holidays but we rang her later to find out about Nicholas and to tell her we would be interested in using him as a stud dog for our girls when they came of age. So it was just a matter of time waiting patiently until that day when we would call Jenny to put Nicholas on standby!

It was always understood from the first time we used Nicholas that if Jenny should ever consider selling Nic that we wanted to be her first option. On a day not so long ago that became the case. Jenny is a registered nurse and wanting to travel and work away a bit she was torn between staying local or parting with her beloved 'son' and seeing the world. So Nicholas was welcomed to his new home and his wives here were very happy indeed!
